quake hits central visayas yesterday [february 6, 2012]
Yesterday around 11:49 noon, 6.9 magnitude quake hits the central visayas specifically the southern part of cebu and the negros oriental. It made some damages in some in the places of Tayasan, Guihulgan. . and some parts near the area.
Aftershocks came aftershocks that the philvocs were able to note it as 247 aftershocks of last night.
People panicked because there was an alert level 2 of tsunami. The philvocs released that a 1 meter wave high may hit, but with no further specification on the matter. At between 2:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon of yesterday, the alerts for tsunami had been lifted. But people are still in panic.
I have friends and relatives that is based in Cebu City, Cebu Province, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo and the other parts of it. I keep them posted through my facebook account that i rarely use because i dont like posting anything in there anymore. I'm just glad I made some of their families who are living abroad and friends who have no access to any news because the signal was very bad updated.
People should learn not to panic when things like this -- quake, landslide, tsunami and the likes, happened. Because the more the people panic, the more it is prone to accidents.
When calamities like this comes, we just be ALERT, presence of mind and refrain from listening to any chikkas, or forwarded msgs that has no basis. Or might as well, people should be educated about DISASTER RISK, so they will know what will happen in times like this.
