Grammmmmmaaaaarrrrrrrrrr
I grow-up with a family who are really good in English, when i say GOOD they are experts in it – may it be structural English or just plainly the conversational one, written or speaking. From my tatay to my nanay, from my older sister to my brothers, they had been blessed with a tongue that made them real good with English.
Whenever I’m asked to do an impromptu talk, I always stammer for I didn’t know if I’m gonna say it correctly or not. I hesitate to say yes, and most of the time I would decline. Grammar had always been a problem to me. I hate to speak with Filipinos because I know they will wait for you to say it in wrong grammar, than listening on how you’re good at it.
Filipinos are very structured when it comes in knowing the English language; it is our second language that’s why we are keener on whoever got it incorrectly. I neither had any unforgettable memories that I was able to digest grammar fully, nor a single bit of a memory that I liked grammar. I’ve always hated grammar! I’ve always a disinterest on the topic. Most of the time, I would rather choose mathematics than tackling about grammar, as the later would always confuse me compare on having polynomials or statistics.
Lately, we attended a training that tackles grammar. I would want to say no to this seminar as I’m really fidgety about being part of this training. I prepared myself. . Collected some grammar English books, and tried to understand the meaning of what was in it. But I always put it aside and read novels instead.
I didn’t expect that the training would be that fun and easy. I get to embrace and learn that grammar was after all not that hard, as i think it was. Our trainor, Miss Lampros, helped me to like the grammar, even if there are times that it confuses me. Slowly, I’m learning that grammar is not that bad. Ahahahah! She had been a great help for my understanding and learning of this subject matter.
First step, is I wanna be in a class that teaches English 111 or English Plus. It would help me understand more of this structured English.
